3 days in a Pueblo Màgico, Bacalar

Bacalar is a small town next to a big lagoon, not far from the southern coast of the Yucatán peninsula. Bacalar is a Pueblo Mágico, one of several towns in Mexico got this title for being culturally important. These places are protected from exploitation of big coorporations such as hotel chains. Bacalar is really magical. We stayed next to the laguna and we had a outside terasse where we could just go straight into the water, do morning yoga and have morning coffee in the garden. The laguna has clear blue water (I have never seen this blue light water before), and cenotes, really deep dark holes which provide the lagoon with water from ground water. We had the privilege to sail in a small catamaran with a local guide, snorkel in a cenote, scrub our bodies with mud och watch birds go home to their protected little island in the middle of the lagoon. We also did kayaks in the sunset.
