Hiking the trails in Monteverde

Our last stop before heading back to Sweden (via San José) is Monteverde. We went to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve today and saw the Resplendent Quetzal! Two of these beautiful birds were making a nest in a tree trunk and we watched them for a few minutes. We walked the trails for a few hours, visited a waterfall and walked across a hanging bridge with great views of the jungle. The hike had lots of wonderful flowers and trees, though we did not see a lot of wildlife, except for birds.

The cloud forest was wonderful, it's great to be back in the wild mountain jungles of Costa Rica! Tomorrow we will visit the Selvatura park hanging bridges for another walk in the jungle canopy, before heading to San José on the 10th for our flight back home on the 12th.
