Jaguar Rescue Center
We went to the Jaguar Rescue Center, a volunteer-operated non-profit rescue center that takes care of wounded wild animals.
We were guided through the center for about an hour by one of the volunteers and learned a lot about the local wildlife and the center. Their goal is always to release all animals back into the wild, but a few that are blind or very sick are permanent residents.
Check out a few of the animals in the slideshow above. There were also several species of monkeys, crocodiles, owls, toucans, an ocelot, a margay cat, a sea turtle, rattlesnakes and many other species.
